Indaero, the company that said 'no' to bosses: "We make more money, and employees are happier."

The workers decide on projects, salaries, and work schedules.

Indaero is a company that said 'no' to bosses. This SME has established a horizontal organizational model in which employees make the strategic business decisions, including projects, salaries, and work schedules.

"We make more money, and workers are happier and more productive," explains Darío González, the former CEO of the company. He is a rare case: a boss who wanted to stop being one. After 20 years as the company's top executive, he decided it was time to welcome a partner who could help accelerate growth.

"I didn't feel prepared to run a company with more than 50 employees," he admits. He found Krisos, an investment fund aiming to acquire several SMEs to test this horizontal organizational model, inspired by the theories of a Basque management guru.

Now, the company aims to double its revenue within three years, while employees decide on which projects to take on, the countries to expand into, and even their vacations, work schedules, or whether to increase staff.

There are also some rules: the highest salary cannot exceed 2.5 times the lowest, and there is full transparency in employee compensation. "It caused a stir because now everyone knows what the other earns," he jokes.
